We know a lot of you metalheads are pretty big gamers and that's what makes Pentakill so unique. Most of the skins are now Legacy skins, some are still regular league of legends skins. It's great for an old rocker like myself to be a part of this modern gaming music world, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with such a great team of talented people.
Behind the scenes, the songs on Smite & Ignite were created by a rotating cast of professional metal musicians, including Jørn Lande (Jorn, Beyond Twilight, Masterplan) and ZP Theart (Skid Row, Dragonforce), as well as by the music composition and production team at League of Legends' parent company, Riot Games.
Pentakill is a virtual metal band within the game, and Karthus is not only a powerful warrior, but also the lead singer of the band. The remainder of the band features Karthus, Yorick, Sona, Olaf and Mordekaiser. One of those genres is metal, with an in-house band going by Pentakill producing an album a couple of years ago.
Update August 3, 2017: Lo and behold, the gods of metal have brought upon us a new album on this great day, as the full second Pentakill album is now available to stream and download. Pentakill skins for League of Legends are the skins released with the Pentakill theme.
Like before I've been working closely with the great Riot Games team in LA, and this time around we are aiming for a full length album with Karthus as captain of the vocal ship. In addition, the Hansons told me, Pentakill helps League of Legends players keep track of hundreds of spells for teleporting, powering up, healing, and more.
Having become a Billboard hit with their 2014 debut 8 track EP ‘Smite And Ignite' , featuring such modern metal classics as ‘Ohmwrecker' and ‘The Hex Core', Pentakill are set to release their first full album ‘Pentakill II: Grasp Of The Undying'. Karthus picked up his microphone, dressed in a decent suit and now he looks like a real metal band singer.
Even more surprising, the group turned out to be a virtual band made up of fictional members — vocalist Karthus, guitarist Mordekaiser, bassist Yorick, keyboardist Sona and drummer Olaf — embodied by an original skin line in the massively popular online game League of Legends.
Grasp of the Undying was recorded in the catacombs of the Shadow Isles , and engineered and produced by Riot Games in Los Angeles, CA and London, UK. It was also mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Circus Maximus, Anubis Gate, etc.). Lyric videos for the pre-released songs ‘Tear Of The Goddess' and ‘The adc Bloodthirster' have already racked up over a million views between them, thanks to the unique bond the gamer has to the band.
You can buy Pentakill Olaf skin for 975 RP in the League of Legends in-game store. For those of you that are unfamiliar, Pentakill is a rock band inspired by League of Legends. Kayle is the latest member of the imaginary League of Legends band, Pentakill. What exactly they're bringing with them when the band of champions reunites is up in the air, but as most players will heavily assume and hope for, a new Pentakill album might not be too far away.
Add some gaming style to your wardrobe with this awesome official League of Legends Pentakill t-shirt. In the newest patch, each Pentakill skin is getting a fresh coat of paint with new splash art, and in-game models are getting updated for Pentakill Mordekaiser, Pentakill Sona and Pentakill Karthus.
Three years after the release of Smite & Ignite, Pentakill II: Grasp Of The Undying is a full length, 10-track record showcasing the multi-faceted talents of the music professionals and avid production team involved, and featuring genre-influences ranging from power metal, NWOBHM, thrash, modern progressive death metal, and even industrial.
